Designing a Family Home - A Journey with The Custom Space.
At The Custom Space, we consider ourselves fortunate to collaborate often with our local publication, The Nelson Magazine. It’s a partnership that not only allows us to showcase our work but also gives us the opportunity to engage with our community and share our design journey.
Recently our head designer Courtney, featured her beautiful new build by Mecca Built, Karsten Architecture and Joinery by The Custom Space. Here's what she had to say...
“As a designer at The Custom Space, I spend my days crafting beautiful spaces that reflect our clients' dreams and aspirations. However, when it came time to design a new home for my own family, I quickly realized that the process was far more challenging than I had anticipated.
Initially, I found myself caught up in the pursuit of the "wow" factor. It’s easy to get swept away by the latest trends and stylish designs, but I knew that to create a space that truly felt like home, I needed to dig deeper and focus on our family's genuine needs. After countless iterations—I'm talking eight different designs for the kitchen alone—I finally took a step back and returned to the basics.
The result? A design that embodies our aesthetic: clean lines, functional zones, and a welcoming atmosphere where our family can truly connect. Our kitchen has become the heart of our home, a vibrant hub where we gather both morning and night. It’s a space that fosters collaboration, enabling all four of us to work together seamlessly, whether we’re cooking, doing homework, or simply enjoying each other’s company.
What I love most about our new home is its adaptability. It’s designed to grow with us, providing room for more art, memories, and experiences as our family evolves.”.
At The Custom Space, we believe that every project is a personal journey, and it’s an honor to help our clients navigate their own design adventures. If you’re dreaming of creating a space that reflects your lifestyle and values, we’re here to help. Let’s transform your vision into reality, just as we did for Courtney’s family.
