Antique Kitchen Imported from America!

Antique Kitchen Imported from America!

A very unique project! The client brief: “We have a kitchen we transported from America over 20 years ago in storage, which we’d love to use as inspiration for the renovation of our character home. Is what we are asking for possible and would you be willing to take it on?”

The challenge: a container with a kitchen in pieces, filled with holes from a reckless demolition, with no knowledge of the original floor plan. We rescued what we could, and had to somehow determine the design of the jigsaw puzzle with only 1/4 of the pieces required to fill the newly renovated space. With existing features to replicate, this entailed hours of sourcing and handcrafting the detailing to bring the same character to the ‘new’ parts of the kitchen. With a 100+ year old home to fit it into, some walls out by 55mm and the floor out by 140mm over 20m, this project provided a challenge at every turn!
